  1. Hello There,

    In debt to you for making my learning on the Query to Find Triggers on a Table area so hassle-free! I lay my faith on your writings.

    I have a field called ACTUALFINISH in format DD/MM/YY and I want to add the hours and minutes.

    For example, I have this date: 29/08/17
    What I do is the next query:

    select to_char(actual finish, 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI') from table;

    This query works and I get: 29/08/17 17:39

    But when I try to return to Date type using this query:

    select TO_DATE( (TO_CHAR(actual finish, 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI') ), 'DD/MM/YY HH24:MI') from table;

    I get again the initial date: 29/08/17 and the hours and minutes are ignored.

    What I'm doing wrong?

    Awesome! Thanks for putting this all in one place. Very useful!

    Many Thanks,
    Preethi

  2. Hi There,

    Interesting piece!Great to see someone write Query to Find Triggers on a Table who is not a fanatic or a complete skeptic

    I was trying to retrieve all the columns names from over 100 different views in an oracle database earlier today. I wasn't quite sure how to do it, so to save time I used query to get all the view names, then simply wrote a query that selected the view name and column names from all views where view_name in (list of views).

    I was thinking about writing looping through all the view_names in the database and for each iteration storing the column_names in a variable and the outputting this to the screen.

    As each view can have differing number of columns though would I have to store the column names in a record variable?

    Then how would I retrieve the column names for each view name stored in this record variable?

    Very useful article, if I run into challenges along the way, I will share them here.

    Shukran,
    Preethi.
